Frances Boland runs Boland's Boarding House in Dallas, Texas. Her fifteen year old son, Henry, lives with her at the house. At Al Templeton's recommendation, Jake Epping rents a room there when he first arrives in Dallas in 1960. However, Frances does not remember Al because the timeline was recently reset.
When Jake returns home from spying on George de Mohrenschildt, he discovers the past has pushed back. A fire broke out at the boarding house. Henry has been tragically killed and Frances is wracked with grief.
