Susannah Hoffmann portrayed Frances Boland, owner of the Boland's Boarding House in Dallas, Texas.


Susannah Hoffmann is a Canadian actress. As a young woman, she trained as a dancer, performing with Les Grands Ballet Canadians. After studying at Dawson College's Dome Theatre School in Montréal and showcasing in Toronto, she moved to Ontario in 1983.

She starred on Broadway in the leading role of Sheila Birling in Stephen Daldry's Tony award-winning "An Inspector Calls", and Viola in "Twelfth Night" at the Globe Theatre in San Diego. She had guest lead roles in television series including "Secret Service" (1992), "T and T" (1988), "The Campbells" (1990), "Night Heat" (1985) and "The Edison Twins" (1982). She is most famous for her role as Anne's nemesis Jen Pringle in the sequel to the beloved "Anne of Green Gables" mini-series, "Anne of Avonlea" (1987).[1]

Her husband, Maury Chaykin, died from kidney disease on July 27, 2010. They had one daughter, Rose.[2]
